People often reach out with a range concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship concerns and the challenges of navigating life transitions.

Whatever the specific issue, clients often share a common goal to gain a deeper understanding of the issues they're struggling with, to challenge and replace patterns of thoughts and behaviours that are not serving them, and to learn helpful coping skills to manage stressors in healthy and productive ways.

I recognise that each individual's needs are unique, and in aim to tailor my approach accordingly. My priory is creating a safe, supportive environment for open exploration of thoughts, emotions and experiences.

Collaboratively, we work to uncover root causes, address maladaptive patterns and develop skills for managing stressors in healthy ways.

Randa BottPsychotherapist & Counsellor in Bath

Through personalized sessions, I will support your path in becoming more aware of how you think, feel and act in the present moment; I provide insight into ways in which you can overcome any unfinished business in order to live at your full potential.

I value the importance of a therapeutic relationship and I base my relationships with clients on trust and partnership. Using my experience, I am able to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can feel acknowledged, listened to, and supported.

Harnessing the potential of Humanistic, Integrative and Gestalt Therapy – experiential forms of psychotherapy – I will create a bespoke program of psychotherapy and counselling to help you achieve your goals. For this, I also draw from my experience in integrative approaches such as Relational humanistic therapy, Mindfulness, Somatic experiencing, EMDR and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassionate Inquiry, and Psychodynamic Therapy to provide a rounded and holistic approach which is unique to you.

My life experience has given me a global cultural perspective of what it means to be "the other", and the journey to understand the parts of ourselves that are looking for a place to belong. Through my work I draw on both tradition and modern psychodynamic theories with a particular awareness of the body-mind connection as well as transgenerational and complex trauma.

I believe there is no universal approach and so tailor each session to each client's unique needs. By drawing from a mix of approaches this enables my clients to be more fully involved and feel engaged with every step they take towards their happiness.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy and Counselling both offer a safe environment where you come to explore difficult, life impacting issues you may be experiencing.Psychotherapeutic work explores more deeply held patterns which may lie within your past history.

> What is Psychotherapy?
What is Counselling?

Counselling tackles everyday problems, which may span the mundane to the catastrophic. Counselling is often linked with more short-term work and may be more structured.

Right at the beginning you and I will clarify what your intentions are for coming to therapy. I believe consciously identifying and working towards your goal gives you a sense of agency in your life.

What is worrying you?

I specialise in helping people after difficult experiences.

A situation that went on for some time, for example, sexual abuse, bullying or neglectful parenting, or a one-off ‘shock’ trauma, such as an assault, sudden bereavement or an accident.

For some people, unresolved experiences from the past can mean that they feel anxious, socially ill-at-ease, or depressed. For other people, the impact may mean that they feel unsafe, jumpy, and on edge, finding it hard to concentrate.

They may have difficulties trusting or being in relationship. They may experience intrusive thoughts, nightmares or flashbacks or perhaps try to avoid reminders of what happened so that their life and choices become restricted.

Unresolved traumatic experiences might lead other people to feel stuck, frozen or emotionally numb. Often people don’t connect their current challenges with events that happened in the past.
